Mango Airlines is simply a face that you cannot forget. The CEO Nico Bezuidenhout really did an impressive part at creating an airline that nobody could forget! The low cost airline was founded in 2006 and is also a subsidiary of the well renowned South African Airways. Mango is 100% owned by SAA that is owned by the government of South Africa.
Mango Flights operate from O.R Thambo International Airport in Johannesburg and had its 1st flight on the 15th of November 2006. Mango Flights carry approximately 186 passengers between every trip that can consist of:
- Johannesburg to Cape town
- Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth
- Durban to Cape town
- Port Elizabeth to Cape town
- Johannesburg to Durban
- Durban to Bloemfontein
- Cape town to Bloemfontein
- Bloemfontein to Johannesburg
Mango Airlines fleet consists of a total of 9 aircrafts of which all are Boeings. They currently have another 2 that they have ordered that they are expecting soon. This will be a great addition to their existing fleet that will also offer in-flight purchases for food and drinks.
With South African Airways being the parent company of Mango Airlines, SAA Voyager members will now be able to redeem their SAA Voyager miles. Currently. These transactions will however not earn SAA Voyager miles with Mango Airlines, and SAA Voyager benefits such as additional baggage, lounge access or upgrades will not be applicable when paying for a Mango flight using SAA Voyager miles.
We know that with SAA being 100% owner of Mango Airlines, you can be pretty sure that there will be an even larger fleet with some great benefits to come in the future.
